Linda’s foundation (Alcor) defines life extension and cryonics as, “the practice of preserving life by pausing the dying process using subfreezing temperatures with the intent of restoring good health with medical technology in the future.” In essence, subjects are slowly frozen to pause normal biological functioning with plans to unpause subjects at desired target dates or events that are decided beforehand.

According to Chamberlain, individuals from any walk of life may be a good candidate for cryonics, “There’s just a broad cross-section. But, the one thing they may all have in common is a sense of adventure.” Cryonics could be and has been, a fit for doctors, teachers, engineers, young people, older people, and more.

Cryonics and life extension offer an unlimited amount of potentials for the future. One of which is existing in multiple iterations of yourself. Chamberlain tells us, “The future will undoubtedly have multiple instantiations, some of them may be human, some of them may not be… But think of how much more productive you will be.” Existing in more locations than one means you can do more than one thing, and go more than one place while being conscious of all of it! In addition to big ideas such as multiple existences, there also comes the undeniable progression of technology, healthcare, and more.
