Personal Branding, Social Media, and More with Kris Lindahl

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Running a brand is nothing short of a challenge. There are customers to find, services to provide, and a reputation to manage. On top of that, we all have to live our fair share of life to live outside of work. So, how can you do it? In today’s episode, Kris Lindahl drops a few hints on how you can do it yourself.

Key Takeaways

  1. Why brands benefit from being built around a recognizable personality,
  2. How to go on offense for your next marketing campaign, and
  3. Why your work-life balance needs to change.

🙋🏽‍♀️ Building Your Persona

As you think about your favorite brands, what comes to mind? Some of the most successful companies and their brands are built around a specific personality: Apple, Steve Jobs; Microsoft, Bill Gates; Ford Motors, Henry Ford. All of these companies share a similar structure to their brands. Brand personality is originally inspired by early-stage team members, then proceeds to anchor the beliefs and values of a truly recognizable brand. Apple encourages people to express their unique talent to the world, just as Steve Jobs did. Microsoft believes in education and philanthropy just as Bill Gates still does. Ford Motors hasn’t changed the core functionality of the manufacturing line since its invention.

For Kris, it’s making the process of Real Estate more predictable and accessible for consumers. People come to Kris Lindahl real estate not necessarily because they know Kris, but they know what he stands for. Think about what your brand’s unique perspective on the world is, then let customers know.

🎯 Trading X for O

Although a recognizable personality will do plenty of good for your brand, it won’t bring you to the finish line. Every strong brand is stronger with proper marketing. Kris’ Idea of proper? “Omnipresence,” Lindahl says. “You’ve gotta have this takeover effect, like this person is everywhere.”

Next time you are thinking of running a marketing campaign, think about how many channels your material could land on. Challenge your team to distribute a single consistent post to every major platform and more. Implementing traditional channels is also a green light depending on what your goals are. Kris is largely known for his traditional billboard campaigns.

🥁 It’s in the Rhythm

Life isn’t black and white, therefore, Kris believes having a work-life “balance” is outdated. “Life isn’t 50/50,” Lindahl says. “Some people start work at 10 pm and work until 2 am. Others prefer to work differently.”

Trading a work-life balance for a work-life rhythm is one of Lindahl’s biggest points. Be open to flexibility with how much, or little, you work, and what your boundaries are. If a client calls you at 5:15pm and you’re available, you can still answer even though it’s past 5. Of course, if a client calls you during hours you have set for family time or yourself, it’s important to uphold what’s fair to your values. The takeaway is to be open with yourself. Experiment with what works best for you in the rhythm of life, because it’s more than a balance.

📄 In Conclusion

Building a recognizable personality around your brand is crucial to its success. For Kris, it’s making the process of Real Estate more predictable and accessible for consumers. Amplify your brand by going on offense when it comes to marketing and challenge yourself to expand your brand across multiple platforms. After all is said and done, remember to maintain a work-life rhythm!

Quotes

“We have struggled with accountability, but the way we fix it isn’t by getting someone to bark down, ‘do this and do that’ at others. Collectively, the community together enforces the accountability.

One thing I’ve learned about marketing is that it’s about being omnipresent. You’ve gotta have this takeover effect, like this person is everywhere.”
